'Star Wars Rebels' season 2 rumors: Sarah Michelle Gellar Instagram post teases Princess Leia role
When it comes to "Star Wars," fans are not skimp on giving out their own theories. Such was the case when it was announced that Sarah Michelle Gellar is voicing a new character on season two of "Star Wars Rebels." The actress herself flamed more speculations with a new Instagram post.
Gellar had been confirmed to be voicing a new character on the upcoming season of "Star Wars Rebels." Since the announcement, fans of the epic space opera have been speculating on various roles her voice might fit into. Some say it will be a new villain, simply because there can never be enough villains in a "Star Wars" title, while others suggest that she would voice the love interest of Kanan, who is voiced by his real life husband, Freddie Prinze Jr. And a few days ago, she spurned rumors that she just might be voicing a younger Princess Leia.
The 38-year-old actress announced on her Instagram account that she will be part of the "Star Wars Rebels" panel at this year's New York Comic Con. The post says she will be at the Empire Stage on the eighth of October. While that was great news to all "Star Wars" fans, what was really interesting was the photo that accompanied the announcement.
The post had Gellar in what was unmistakably a Princess Leia hair and outfit. This led some to think that maybe she will voice a pre-"A New Hope" Leia Organa, which is not too far-fetched given that her adoptive father, Senator Bail Organa, already made an appearance.
Everything remains a rumor though. Definitive details are still to be released by Disney.
What is certain to be seen in the new season is the resurgence of the classic clones. Popular Clone Trooper Captain Rex will be in the new season, along with more Clones.
Find out which role Gellar will voice when "Star Wars Rebels" season two premieres on Disney XD this Oct. 14.
