Star Wars: Battlefront' game: Players can recreate iconic Star Wars battles in new game

The latest iteration of the 'Star Wars: Battlefront' series will allow players to recreate some of the most iconic Star Wars battles in the mythos. In an interview with IGN, Design Director Niklas Fegraeus spoke at length about various design philosophies they have for the upcoming game.
Fegraeus noted that not only will there be a wide variety of maps and gameplay modes for players to choose from, but that each will be distinct in their own way. "The scale of our maps and modes offer a great variety depending on the location. Hoth, where the Rebel Alliance fought off invading AT-ATs in snowy plains, will differ in size than the dense woodland of Endor," he said.
Adding to the distinctiveness is the design philosophy on mixing of maps and game modes. "We have actually made the decision to specifically tailor certain maps to certain game modes and what we get from that is not only incredibly varied scales, but also gameplay that will allow players to live out some of their most memorable Star Wars battle fantasies," he added.
Fegraeus and the rest of the designers can rest easy knowing that developer EA has offered plenty of support.
EA CFO Blake Jorgensen called the project a high priority and indicated that they will market the title aggressively. "We're extremely excited about that. We think there's huge potential for that title," he said, in an article at GameSpot. He compared the project to EA's other franchise, the hugely successful 'Battlefield' series, and noted that 'Battlefront' will receive a similar level of support.
Star Wars: Battlefront is slated for release in December later this year and it is expected to coincide with the release of the new Star Wars movie 'The Force Awakens'. Such a strategy will almost certainly ensure a sizable chunk of sales for the game as the final Star Wars trilogy continues to maintain an extremely positive buzz leading up to its release.
