Sony Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact, Z5 Ultra release date, specs, rumors: new design, ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, Snapdragon 820 to debut in Q4 2015
Even as rumors of Sony preparing to unveil the Xperia Z4 at the upcoming IFA 2015 in September continue to do the rounds, along with a slew of leaked images, there are now speculations that the company is getting ready to launch its successor, the Xperia Z5.

According to the latest rumors, Sony plans to launch the Xperia Z5, along with the Xperia Z5 Ultra and the Xperia Z5 Compact smartphones in Q4 2015. The report also suggests that the Xperia Z4 will be launched around mid-year, which will make it possible for Sony to stick to its bi-annual upgrade cycle with the release of the Xperia Z5.
However, the launch could be postponed to January 2016 if the upcoming Snapdragon 820 chipset is not available in time for the release of the Z5-series. The Xperia Z5 and the Xperia Z5 Ultra are believed to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, while details of the Xperia Z5 Compact are unavailable.
The Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra will reportedly ditch the flagship standard fingerprint scanning feature and instead use Qualcomm's Ultrasonic Sense ID, making it the first smartphone in the Xperia series to feature the technology. The Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Ultra will reportedly feature a Quad HD display for all regions, while the Xperia Z4 will apparently sport a Quad HD display in selected regions and a 1080p display for the other markets. The Xperia Z5 will come with a 2K screen, 4 GB of RAM, a brand new camera sensor and software, though it is unlikely to feature OIS (optical image stabilization).
Sony has been using the Omni-Balance design for its flagship devices for nearly five generations now, but has opted for a new design language for its Xperia Z5, according to reports. Sony has not confirmed the Xperia Z5 specifications, features and release date so far.
