Sony Xperia Z5 vs. Samsung Galaxy S6: Galaxy S6 wins in flagship face-off

With Sony launching the Xperia Z5 smartphone, it is expected that other flagship devices, like the Galaxy S6, will become its competitor. In fact, in a comparison, these devices with similar features and glass and metal builds, are only different in hardware.
Design
The Xperia Z5 has a metal frame with the Xperia logo imprinted on it. As for its front and back, they feature frosted glass instead of the glossy finish. There is an all new fingerprint scanner on the device, which is incorporated into the power button located on the side. With it, users can simply pick up the phone and easily unlock it. As for colors, the device has four options, white, black, green and gold. It also has an IP68 rating, which allows it to be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes.
As for the Galaxy S6, it also has a metal frame but its front and back are covered with polished Gorilla Glass 4, which gives the phone a premium look. This device has a touch-based fingerprint scanner integrated into its home button placed below the display. As for the colors, users can choose from white, black, blue and gold. Unlike its competitor, however, the device is not waterproof.
Display
The display on the Xperia Z5 consists of 5.2-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 428 pixels per inch while the Galaxy S6 comes with a much sharper 5.1-inch super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 577 pixels per inch.
Specs
The hardware in these devices are the some of the best available this year, but the Galaxy S6 has an advantage when it comes to speed as it has Samsung's latest Exynos 7420 chipset coupled with an octa-core processor comprised of four cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four clocked at 2.1 GHz along with a Mali-T760MP8 GPU. As for the Xperia Z5, it has the best chipset from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 810 coupled with an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2 GHz along with an Adreno 430 GPU.
Memory
There is no memory slot on the Galaxy S6, which is why it lags behind the Xperia Z5. The Sony device has a slot that supports up to 200 GB of external storage. As for RAM, each device has 3 GB onboard.
Camera
The Xperia Z5 has a better 23 megapixel camera that can take photos within 0.03 seconds, however, it does not have optical image stabilization, a feature present along with the 16 megapixel camera on the Galaxy S6.
Price
Sony has yet to unveil the price tag of the Xperia Z5. As for the Galaxy S6, it costs $199 with a two-year contract.
