Sony Xperia Z5 Premium vs. Moto X Style: Sony device has the better screen but Moto X Style gives users some great customization options

The Moto X Style won smartphone users over thanks to its several customization options available. However, it now faces a tough competitor, as Sony just released its Xperia Z5 Premium, the first smartphone with a 4K screen. Here is how the two devices compare.
Design
When it comes to design, the Xperia Z5 Premium looks and feels like a flagship phablet thanks to its metal frame and glass that covers it front and back. The metal frame has nylon on its corners to protect the glass in case of accidental drops. It comes with a fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button located on the side of the device. The device has an IP68 certification, making it waterproof and dust proof. The device from Motorola also has a metal frame but its exterior can be customized completely and customers can choose from different colored frames, metal accents and back panels created from soft grip silicone, wood and leather. Though it has a water repellent coating, unlike the Sony device, it is not waterproof.
Display
The Moto X Style has a slightly bigger display but the Xperia Z5 Premium has superior density which can be hard to match. The device from Sony is the first smartphone with 4K display. It has a 5.5-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 2160 x 3840 pixels and a density of 806 pixels per inch. It also has Triluminos technology that enhances colors. As for the Moto X Style, it has a capacitive screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 520 pixels per inch.
Specs
The Moto X Style lags in this category as it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, coupled with a hexa-core CPU comprised of two Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.44 GHz and an Adreno 418 GPU. In the Xperia Z5 Premium is the very latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, coupled with an octa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2 GHz along with an Adreno 430 GPU.
Memory
There is a memory slot on each device. The Moto X Style's slot can support up to 128 GB while the version on the Xperia Z5 Premium supports up to 200 GB. As for RAM, each has 3 GB on board.
Camera
There is a better 23 megapixel camera on the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, which has Hybrid Autofocus that can take photos within just 0.03 seconds. It also allows for 5x zoom without reducing the quality of the photos. As for the Moto S Style, it has a 21 megapixel camera.
Price
The Moto X Style has a distinct advantage as its base model with 16 GB only costs $400, unlocked. The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium's price is expected to cost around $910, unlocked.
