Samsung SM-W2016 specs, rumors: Flip phone utilizes Galaxy S6 hardware
Rumors about new devices from Samsung have continued to emerge over the past few weeks and several have shown that the company has a new flip phone in the works. This phone, which has a traditional clamshell design that was popular before smartphones came into being, is made of metal and glass and has hardware similar to the Galaxy S6.
However, news about the SM-W2016, which was previously billed as the Galaxy Golden 3, has so far been restricted to rumors. But recently, the device got a certification from the Chinese authority TENAA that indicates the smartphone could be released in the country soon.
As for the hardware, GSMArena states the rumors that Samsung's fastest Exynos 7420 chipset, which was also used on the Galaxy S6, would be used on the SM-W2016. If the news about the top notch hardware is true, it means that Samsung is providing the best possible chipset for the device and is also paying a good amount of attention to its design.
In terms of design, the clamshell phone is taking clues from the Galaxy S6 and it has a metal frame and possibly Gorilla Glass 4 on its back.
Another unique feature of the device is that it has two screens, one of which is positioned on the outside. Another screen is on the inside that is only visible when the phone is opened. Each of these AMOLED screens has a resolution of 1280x768 pixels and a resolution of 383 pixels per inch.
However, most attention is being placed on the hardware of the device and it is thought that Samsung plans to include 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. As for the operating system, it is believed to be Android Lollipop. The camera might be inferior compared to the version on other flagship phones, probably an 8-megapixel version.
