The newest member of Samsung's in-house processor family, dubbed as Exynos 8 Octa, has just been unveiled. This new CPU will be much faster in terms of performance compared to its predecessors as well as come with a more battery efficient features.

According to Samsung, the Exynos 8 Octa, or pretty soon will be referred to as Exynos 8890 as said on GSM Arena, is promised to pack in 30 percent more performance power compared to the previous model the Exynos 7580. The new Octa CPU was built on a 14mm FinFET process technology and it will be an integrated one-chip solution unlike the previous in the line of CPUs from the South Korean-based manufacturer.

In the power efficiency sector, Samsung has noted that the Exynos 8 Octa will be 10 percent more efficient in the battery life when compared to the other processors from the company. However, as explained on GSM Arena, the 10 percent doesn't necessarily mean that the phone that will be equipped with this current CPU will have 10 percent more battery life.

Now for the Exynos 8 Octa graphics processing unit (or commonly referred to as GPU), the chipset is going to sport in ARM's latest card, the Mali-T880, which is said to support "graphic-intensive user interface, highly immersive 3D gaming and life-like virtual reality experiences."

In terms of supported resolution, GSM Arena notes that the Exynos 8 Octa will be capable of producing 4K UHD display quality with a resolution of 4,096 x 2,160 or the Wide Quad Ultra XGA (simply known as WQUXGA) with a resolution of 3,840 x 2,400.

Unfortunately though, the company did not provide any details for the flagships that are set to be equipped with the latest Exynos 8 Octa. However, Samsung's future handset, the Samsung Galaxy S7, would be the first phone to come to mind that will most probably come with the latest chipset. Furthermore, that's just pure speculation and fans should still wait for further confirmation coming from the South Korean-based manufacturer.
