Samsung A9 news, official specs: Premium device comes with 6-inch Super AMOLED display and 4,000 mAh battery

After enduring numerous leaks these past few weeks, Samsung has finally unveiled the A9 smartphone. The Samsung A9 is the top-tier model in the A-series smartphones, including the 4.7-inch A3, the 5.2-inch A5 and the 5.5-inch A7 smartphones.

The premium and sleek handset comes with a glass and metal build. In terms of dimensions, it is 161.7 mm tall, 80.9 wide and 7.4 mm thick. The smartphone also features very slim bezels measuring at just 2.74 mm. The display also features a 2.5D curved display.

The Samsung A9 features a 6-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with a 1920 x 1080 screen resolution and 367 ppi pixel density.

The smartphone is powered by a quad-core 1.8 GHz 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, the Adreno 510 graphics card and 3 GB of RAM. There is 32 GB of internal storage but can be upgraded up to 128 GB via a microSD card slot.

The Samsung A9 comes equipped with a 13 MP rear camera with a wide f/1.9 aperture, autofocus, optical image stabilization and LED flash. There is also an 8 MP front-facing camera with the same f/1.9 aperture for taking selfies and video calls.

The device runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS out of the box but will have a planned upgrade to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. The A9 smartphone comes with dual-SIM capability and 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS connectivity. It also comes with a fingerprint sensor located inside the home button. The fingerprint sensor comes with Samsung Pay support.

The Samsung A9 smartphone is backed by a massive 4,000 mAh battery with Quick Charge capability. It is set to provide users with more than enough power for a full day's use. It is available in three colors – Pearl White, Midnight Black and Champagne Gold.
