Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date, specs, rumors: Round Gear A smartwatch and phablet may be launched together at IFA 2015 in September
Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics will unveil a circular smartwatch named Gear A with Bluetooth and 3G support alongside its phablet Galaxy Note 5 at this year's IFA event, claims a new report. Earlier rumors had pointed to the Gear A being launch in the first half of 2015. Apparently, the launch of Gear A has been delayed as Samsung wants to make sure it is a "more perfect product" and also wait for the hype over the Apple Watch to die down.
Samsung was earlier rumored to be working on a device codenamed Orbis and was speculated to launch Orbis as Gear A, a round-faced smartwatch with 3G connectivity, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support. The 3G model of Gear A is expected to have wrist-based calling feature and allow the wearer to make and receive calls without the need for a synced smartphone. Meanwhile, Samsung is widely expected to launch the Galaxy Note 5 in September, as its predecessor, the successful Galaxy Note 4 released in 2014, will have completed a circle of one year in the market by then. Based on earlier rumors, the Galaxy Note 5 is expected to sport a 5.9 inch 4K Super AMOLED UHD display with 2160 x 3840 pixel resolution protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and is likely to be powered by a new Exynos 7422 chipset that could offer an all-in-one processing solution.
Fresh reports have now emerged claiming that the Gear A smartwatch will be unveiled with the Galaxy Note 5 at this year's IFA event, a leading trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances. Since the Gear A is Samsung's first round smartwatch, the company has reportedly delayed its launch to ensure that everything goes as originally planned and it can follow a "proper timetable" with its product launches. Samsung also believed that the hype over the Apple Watch will have died down by the time it releases the round Gear A smartwatch. Samsung fans will have to wait until September when the IFA 2015 will be held to find out if these rumors are indeed true.
