OnePlus One Android 5.0 Lollipop release date: OTA for CM12 on or before March 30

OnePlus has finally confirmed the OnePlus One Android 5.0 Lollipop update for both CM12S and OxygenOS and has apologized for the delay in releasing the update. According to OnePlus, the delay was due to an "unforeseen OS signing issue" that was recently resolved, stability issues with the devices camera module, and a number of other drivers that required upgrades in order for them to work with Google's new OS.
Major OEM devices and carriers in the U.S. have been taking a long time in announcing their release date for the Google's Android 5.0 Lollipop update. OnePlus, maker of the cult Android hit, OnePlus One, had earlier promised an OTA rollout for CM12S within three months of the release of the Lollipop source code.
The company has now confirmed the official OTA update for CM12 will be on or before March 30, while the official release of OxygenOS, the Lollipop-based ROM, will take place on March 27. OnePlus is providing users with the option of flashing OxygenOS for a mostly-stock Android experience, or continue with CyanogenMod and await the OTA rollout.
In order to show users that it is serious about its commitment on releasing the update by the announced dates, OnePlus has said that it will give away five 64GB OnePlus One devices if it misses the deadline for its one-device Android 5.0 Lollipop update. "It's our little way of saying thank you for being patient and for joining us on our journey to create amazing, user-driven experiences," OnePlus said.
Currently, OnePlus has only one handset, the OnePlus One, in the market and is expected to launch the OnePlus Two sometime this year, though it has not announced any release date for the next generation device.
