Nexus 5 (2015) 2nd Gen release date, specs, rumors: LG insider reveals tech company is 'considering' building next Nexus smartphone
There have been contradictory reports in the media about Google being in talks with different manufacturers, such as Huawei, LG and Motorola, for manufacturing the Nexus 5 (2015). According to the latest reports, LG has officially expressed interest in making the new stock Android 2nd Gen Nexus smartphone for Google.
Recent reports in the South Korean media had indicated that Google was more likely to choose LG to build the next-gen Nexus 5 smartphone in 2015. Speculations that LG would build the Nexus 5 this year became even stronger after executives from Google were spotted making visits to various company locations, such as LG Display and its facilities for manufacturing smartphone components, like wireless charging modules and cameras with optical image stabilization.

But with Google holding talks with different manufacturers, new speculations claimed that instead of just one Nexus 2015 device, the company could launch two devices this year, including a Nexus tablet and a Nexus 5 2015 phone made by different OEMs. According to some reports, Huawei would manufacture the Nexus smartphone this year and LG would manufacture the tablet. It was also possible that LG would manufacture both the smartphone as well as the tablet, while Huawei could come out with budget variants of these devices.
LG has not confirmed that it would be building a Nexus this year, but Android Pit claims that a company source has revealed to them that the move is 'under consideration'. A post on Android Pit states, "We now have confirmation from sources within LG that the company is indeed considering making the 2015 Nexus." AndroidPit further states, "When we asked our source outright if LG was in any way involved with a new Nexus, the response was that, "it's under consideration at LG". AndroidPit also reached out to Google, which responded that it would, "not comment on rumors or speculations".
