With a new phablet in the form of the Moto X Style entering the market, the current flagship phablet from Apple, the iPhone 6 Plus, has to face a new competitor. This is how these two devices compare.

Design

There is literally very little metal on the Moto X Style and it is only present on its frame. However, the device comes with a vast range of customization options and users can choose from different colored frames, metal accents and lenses and even decide on the materials available such as natural wood, leather and silicone for the back panel on the Moto Maker website.

As for the iPhone 6 Plus, it cannot be customized but it has a premium metal unibody that very few other devices have. It also comes with rounded edges and a fingerprint scanner which is absent on its competitor. It comes in three colors, gray, gold and silver.

Display

The Moto X Style has an advantage as it has a sharper and bigger screen. It comes with a capacitive screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 520 pixels per inch. Compared to this, the iPhone 6 Plus has a 5.5 inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 401 pixels per inch.

Specs

The iPhone 6 Plus was released last year but since then, it has been overtaken by a number of handsets in terms of speed. It comes with an Apple A8 chipset, a Cyclone CPU with two cores clocked at 1.4 GHz and a PowerVR GX6450 GPU. As for the Moto X Style, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, a hexa-core CPU comprised of two Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.44 GHz along with an Adreno 418 GPU.

Memory

No additional storage can be added to the iPhone 6 Plus while the Moto X Style has a slot that allows for the addition of up to 128 GB. When it comes to RAM, again the iPhone 6 Plus lags as it only has 1 GB while the Moto X Style has 3 GB.

Camera

The 21 megapixel camera on the Moto X Style outguns the 8 megapixel camera on its rival which comes with optical image stabilization.

Price

The iPhone 6 Plus with 16 GB storage costs $299 with a two-year contract while the Moto X Style is expected to come as an unlocked Pure Edition which sells for $399.
