MacBook Air vs Surface Book: New Microsoft laptop costs more but it's better
With the Surface Book become very popular in short span of time it is clear that it is going to challenge full sized laptops like the 13 inch MacBook Air and this is how these two devices fare in a comparison.
Design
When it comes to design, the Surface Book looks and feels as good as the laptop from Apple as it has a magnesium body and keyboard, along with a hinge that allows for the screen to be detached from the keyboard base and used a tablet. This means that the device is a laptop/tablet hybrid, and additionally it has a touch screen and the user can employ the Surface Pen to write or draw on it. When it comes to colors however, there is only one on offer, silver. Coming to the 13 inch MacBook Air it is slightly bigger than its competitor and has an aluminum body which comes in one color silver. However, it does not have a touchscreen and Stylus and cannot be converted into a tablet.

Coming to display size, the MacBook Air has a 13.3 inch LED version with a resolution of 1440x900 pixels and density of 127 pixels per inch, while the Surface Book has a 13.5 inch version with a resolution of 3000 x 2000 pixels and a density of 267 pixels per inch.
Specs
Onboard the Surface Book there is a Core i5 or i7 processors from Intel while the MacBook Air has the Core i5 processor from Intel. There is also a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GPU which users can opt to have installed in the keyboard of the Surface Book.
Memory
Here the Surface Book offers more choice as it has onboard storage ranging from 128GB up to 1TB while the MacBook Air has either 128 GB or 256 GB. There is also a memory slot onboard the Surface Book and the MacBook Air. As for RAM, the is 4 GB onboard the device from Apple while its competitor offers options starting form 4 GB and extending up to 16 GB.
Price
When it comes to price the starting model of the MacBook Air costs $1000 while the cheapest Surface Book costs $1499.
