LG G4 Beat vs. LG G4: How does LG's flagship compare to the mid-range variant?

The LG G4 Beat is the mid-range smartphone variant of this year's flagship phablet from LG. It was just recently launched and is scheduled to arrive first in Latin America and European markets before becoming available worldwide. Here is how it compares to the extremely similar but slightly bigger LG G4 flagship.

Design

The LG G4 is the flagship phablet even though it is comprised entirely of plastic. It has an ergonomic curve running from top to bottom dubbed the "SlimArc." On its back panel is a polycarbonate layer which comes in three colors: gray, gold and ceramic white, however, there are also leather panels available for the device, which are dyed in a variety of natural colors.

As for the LG G4 Beat, it has a smaller body compared to its phablet-sized sibling but its back and front panels look alike. However, it does not have a curved body like the G4 and there is still no word regarding the availability of leather back panels.

Display

The display on the LG G4 is bigger and sharper. It has an IPS LCD capacitive screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 538 pixels per inch. On the LG G4 Beat is an IPS LCD screen measuring 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 423 pixels per inch.

Specs

When it comes to specs, the LG G4 is comfortably ahead as it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, along with an octa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.44 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 1.82 GHz and an Adreno 418 GPU. The LG G4 Beat, on the other hand, is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset, an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1 GHz along with an Adreno 405 GPU.

Memory

There is no word whether the LG G4 Beat will have a memory slot or not but the version on the LG G4 allows for the addition of up to 128 GB of external storage. As for RAM, the LG G4 has 3 GB while the Beat has 1.5 GB.

Price

There is no pricing information available yet for the LG G4 Beat but it is definitely expected to be cheaper than the LG G4 which has a price tag of $199 with a two-year contract.
