LG G3 vs Galaxy S5 vs HTC One M8: Specs, battery
LG recently hit news headlines with its new flagship smartphone LG G3, which is built based on the success of the LG G2, featuring hardware and feature enhancements that will prove difficult for competitors to match.
The LG G3 came out featuring a 5.5-inch QHD display, to compete with rivals like Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, Sony Xperia Z2 and Oppo Find 7. Check out the LG G3 vs Galaxy S5 vs HTC One M8 comparison below.
Design
LG G3's curved design is intended for an easy one-hand grip, despite its big build. It looks attractive with slim bezels, no-buttons sides and polished metal skin on the rear which is resistant to fingerprints.
The LG G3 is going to face a big rival, HTC One M8. The One M8 wowed the market with its aluminum body, BoomSound speakers and attractive back curve for easy gripping.
Samsung Galaxy S5's design draws mostly from its predecessor Galaxy S4, with the back featuring a panned dimple bandage-like back cover with faux metal looks on the sides.
Display
Though LG's G3 is obviously better in display quality with its quad HD 2560 x 1440 resolution and 538 ppi screen, the HTC One M8's 1920 x 1080 LCD 441 ppi screen is not too bad either and its 5.0-inch screen size is close to the G3's 5.5-inch. LG however made a leap in the display technology with the G3, putting it in a higher position than the HTC.
LG G3 also contends with fellow South Korean manufacturer Samsung. On paper, the G3 clearly has an edge over the Galaxy S5 in terms of resolution and display size. LG also addresses display concerns about battery drains caused by a large display. It has developed a technology which enables the processor to underclock when not doing graphic-intensive tasks, thus reducing battery drain by 20 percent.
Though the LG G3's display has greater numbers that would obviously deliver better quality, the Samsung GS5's 432 ppi Super AMOLED screen enables the Samsung flagship to hold its own as well.
Camera
The LG G3 camera comes with the OIS technology, quick 0.267 seconds autofocus, and enhanced stabilization. HTC One M8 has a 4-ultrapixel duo camera, and a dual sensor that enables post-editing images.
Samsung GS 5's camera has 16 megapixels with 0.3 seconds autofocus, which is the best among the three in terms of megapixels. When Phone Arena took a look at comparison tests between LG G3, HTC One M8 and Samsung GS5 pictures, those taken on the G3's camera came out best, showing sharp pictures, good color, good noise levels and no blur.
Features
LG G3 comes with a more attractive and less bulky UI, a smart keyboard that helps quick typing with minimal errors; security features such as knock codes to wake up the screen; a kill switch to track, wipe, lock and permanently disable the phone when stolen; wireless charging, and a more helpful digital assistant, Google Now that reminds users to clean apps, notifying on declined calls and weather recommendations.
HTC One M8 features the new Sense and Blinkfeed featuers, along with power-saving features also found on the G3 and GS5.
Samsung GS5 is quite abundant with features such as health apps to track distance walked and heartbeat during exercise; security softwares, ultra power saving mode to save battery life and an IP67 certification, making it dust and water resistant.
