LG has once again proved that innovation is in their DNA, as LG Display introduced the prototype of a 5.3-inch full HD LCD panel with a barely-there bezel.

"With the growing trend for large screen smartphones, customer demand for displays with a narrow bezel is increasing, because it enables users to enjoy the maximum use of screen area without compromising excellent grip and design," said Byeong-koo Kim, Vice President and Head of IT/Mobile Development Group at LG Display.

"With this innovative product having many advantages, ranging from its narrow 0.7 mm bezel and high resolution picture quality to its slim design and touch-embedded solutions, LG Display will continue to lead the growing market for large screen smartphones, meeting the expectations of customers and users by enhancing the quality of devices," added Mr. Kim.

The "world's narrowest bezel" that ticks the scale at 0.7 mm is perfect for those who are tired of that extra space around conventional smartphones.

To make this possible, LG Display utilized "NEO Edge" and Advanced In-Cell Touch (AIT) technology.

This innovation will make LG a pioneer in fusing a high-resolution display with a large-size screen with ultra thin bezel technology.

LG has made quite an impact in the mobile realm this year, with the launch of LG G3, which many pundits dubbed as a "perfect smartphone."

In fact, the company's mobile arm has posted strong performance that surged to a five-year high.

LG's mobile business win contrasts with domestic rival Samsung Electronics, which posted a 60.1% profit loss for the third quarter.
