Nickelodeon decided to drop three epic episodes for the Legend of Korra Season 3 premiere last June 27.

The new season begins with "A Breath of Fresh Air," which has fairly lived up to its title.

There are several things that have changed since Korra's showdown with Unavaatu, and if fans can still vividly recall the latter left a parting gift to the Republic City prior to his loss – an overgrowth of the spirit of vines covering the entire urban space.

Two things that stood out in this first installment: Bumi discovering her airbending powers when he chased Bum-Ju off the clip and demonstrated it when Meelo flung a plate at her head, and the girl-bonding-slash-team-up of Korra and Asami and trading jabs – a scene that gave Korra the idea on how to get rid of the vines.

The second episode, "Rebirth of a Nation" fits well to transition the story to the third and last title of the night, "The Earth Queen".

Rebirth was able to balance the entertaining journey of the Avatar team across the Earth Kingdom and Zaheer's prison break, while introducing new characters (airbenders popping from everywhere) and old-timer Lord Zuko.

It's hard to miss out the scene where Mako posed as a runaway convict and Korra sweeping him off his feet with her mini-tornadoes.

The final episode of the premiere showcased the first meeting between the Earth Queen and Korra, which didn't go as planned.

However, this opportunity came as a platform for Korra and Asami to flaunt their excellent combat skills.

Overall, Season 3 gave the audience something to look forward to with classic "Airbender" feels and adventures.

The Legend of Korra has altered the course of the usual television programming and brought something new to the table – animated drama.

Set in a fictional universe, Nickelodeon who normally targets the younger (toddler to adolescent) audience is quite surprised with the strong reception of adults aged 18 to 49.
