Over the past month there have been several rumors about the iPhone 7 even though the device is only expected to release in September of next year or later. A particular rumor even teased the possibility of Apple using an AMOLED screen on the iPhone 7. However, this was shot down recently by an analyst, who is unerringly right with his predictions concerning the smartphone.

Commenting on the investor note released by the analyst from KGI Securities who is named Ming-Chi Kuo, Forbes states that he has accurately predicted several important changes in the iPhone and iPad lineup over the past few years. In his latest note Kuo specifically addresses the possibility of an AMOLED screen on the iPhone 7 and indicates that Apple will not shift from the LCD screen for at least the next three years.

In fact, the earliest Apple would consider changing over to AMOLED displays is in 2018, even though they draw less power and batteries on smartphones last longer. Additionally AMOLED displays bring with it several other benefits such as color accuracy and deeper blacks. However, where the upcoming iPhone lineup could benefit the most would be in terms of battery life as it expected to be 6 to 6.5mm in thickness. This indicates that Apple is not planning to include a bigger battery and this is where an AMOLED screen could have helped make a difference. Finally, this could mean that the iPhone 7 will lag behind all the other flagship smartphones in terms of battery life, making one of its bad features even worse.

As for the news about the iPhone 7 Mini, rumors suggest that the device could launch sometime in the first six months of next year. However, Apple is expected to try and use it to "up sell" the bigger iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models which will have more storage space and also better chipsets on board. As for the iPhone 7 Mini it is expected to come with metal on its body instead of plastic and will have the A9 chipset which is present on this year's iPhone 6s models.
