HTC's One M9 is one of the most impressive phones available in the market. But there is a new phone hoping to give it some competition in the form of the Sony Xperia M5, a mid-range selfie focused model. Here is how these two devices compare.

Design

The Xperia M5 follows Sony's OmniBalance design format which is why it has glass on its front and back. Its frame is made of metal and a layer of protection is placed on its corners. As for colors, it comes in three options, white, gold and black. Compared to this, the One M9 has a full metal body with rounded edges resulting in a phone that has often been described as one of the most impressive and remarkable devices in the market. The device from HTC comes in a silver/rose gold combination, a gold/pink combination, amber gold and gunmetal gray.

Display

The display on these devices are pretty similar in terms of size and quality. The One M9 has a 5.0 inch super LCD3 screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 441 pixels per inch. As for the Xperia M5, it comes with a 5.0 inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 441 pixels per inch.

Specs

In this category, the HTC One M9 is way ahead as it has the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, along with an octa-core CPU consisting of four Cortex-A53 cores and four Cortex-A57 cores and an Adreno 430 GPU. As for the Xperia M5, it has a Mediatek MT6795 chipset, an octa-core CPU clocked at 2.0 GHz and a PowerVR G6200 GPU.

Memory

There is a memory slot on each device. However, the Xperia M5 is superior as its version can support up to 200 GB of additional external storage while the version on the One M9 supports only up to 128 GB. As for RAM, each device has 3 GB onboard.

Camera

The Xperia M5 has a 21.5 megapixel camera at its rear and a 13 MP camera in front for selfies, while the HTC One M9 comes with a 20 megapixel camera at its rear and has a 4 megapixel front facing version.

Price

The HTC One M9 costs around $199 with a two-year contract while the price of the Sony Xperia M5 has not yet been revealed.
