Days before its official release, Director James Gunn and actor Chris Pratt graced the San Diego Comic-Con 2014 and confirmed the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' sequel that will hit theaters on July 28, 2017.

With the massive success of the rock n' roll sci-fi flick, plenty of rumors alreadt surround 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2.'

Arguably, the most bizarre rumor of all was that a "Planet Hulk" would become the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, which Gunn pinned down at the speed of light.

"There's not going to be a Planet Hulk movie, there was never going to be a Planet Hulk movie, there was never a plan for the Hulk to team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy – I wouldn't want the Hulk to team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy!"

Following the original film's August 1 release, the intriguing identity of Star Lord's father became the center of interest for many moviegoers.

J'son of Spartax is Star Lord or Peter Quill's biological father in the comics.

However, Marvel is known to incorporate every movie with the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" and Movie Pilot dropped the names of Loki and Odin into the picture.

Walt Disney and Marvel debuted Guardians of the Galaxy with a strong $94 million opening weekend ticket sales. The movie is now approaching the half billion mark worldwide.

This is the third biggest movie opening of 2014, behind "Transformers: Age of Extinction" and "Captain America 2."

Peter Quill, an interstellar adventure-seeker who was abducted by aliens from the Earth after his mother died from cancer, leads the comic misfits.

Aside from the entertaining cast and well-connected storyline, the throwback 1970s-style soundtrack was deemed so nostalgic and refreshing it climbed the U.S. Billboard charts swiftly.

"Awesome Mix Vol. 1," which includes classic hits such as Blue Swede's "Hooked on a Feeling," The Jackson 5's "I Want You Back," and David Bowie's "Moonage Daydream," sold 109,000 copies in its second week," according to figures from Nielsen SoundScan.
