Google Nexus 10 2 release date rumors: Will second generation Nexus 10 be launched?
A recent update on Nexus 10 2 release date may be quite frustrating, as it suggest a long wait is ahead. Google's largest Nexus tablet first appeared in rumors last year, but the company has yet to release any official statement regarding the device.
A report on Tech Radar said the device will be featured at Google's I/O 2014 annual event, set taking place later this month in San Francisco. As the event draws closer, the Nexus 10 2 has become quite enigmatic as less and less information becomes available, until a report came suggesting the 10-inch tablet will not be launching at all.
Google's Nexus mobile devices have received great feedback, reviews and sales. This includes its flagship smartphones Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, as well as the tablet Nexus 7.
While big tablet Nexus 10 was welcomed to positive reactions, it did not create any impressive sales. It may perhaps not be considered a total failure, but sales did not quite measure up compared with the other Nexus devices, making it look weak in comparion.
When it comes to Nexus 10 sales, Google did not providee exact figures, but industry analysts, such as Benedict Evans, made believable estimates based on development, active Android users and other related information, which focused on resolution and screen sizes of different devices in use.
Evans believed that, of the approximate 6.8 million Nexus devices in use, around 10 percent can be Nexus 10s. While the bigger Nexus tablet has its own loyal users, from a business point of view Google may not see any reason justifiable enough to continue the product in the Nexus lineup.
While Google's experiment with Nexus phones that have premium specs, but non-premium price points, has proven successful, the Nexus 10's high-end specs, like the 300 ppi 10.1-inch display panel, did not allow for a non-premium price point.
With Google Nexus 10 2 possibly out of the pipeline, the good news is that Google is working on the fresh 8.9-inch screen Nexus tablet, just a bit short of the 10-inch screen size, but which is rumored to come with impressive specs, such as a "high-performance" screen, and a 64-bit Tegra processor chip that is excellent for gaming.
