Samsung Gear VR release date: reasonably priced device hitting stores on Nov. 27
The Gear VR was announced earlier this year and now Samsung has annoucned that the headset which works with the aid of a smartphone is available for pre-order via retail stores. Also the virtual reality headset will be available through a carrier store, specifically T-Mobile and it will carry a price tag of $99.
Needless to say, the Gear VR headset is affordably priced and it has been getting a lot of praise from users since its earlier edition appeared on the market. However, since the Gear VR was announced earlier last month with a price tag of $99 it has been garnering a lot of attention as it only needs a smartphone to work. Importantly TechnoBuffalo notes that the compatibility of the Gear VR now extends to the phablet sized Galaxy S6 Edge Plus which has dual curves on its screen and stylus laden Galaxy Note 5.
Earlier the Innovator Edition of the Gear VR only supported the Galaxy Note 4 and this year's flagship models the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge which also has two curves on its screen. Meanwhile the device is already available for pre-orders on various retail stores and it is expected to be available in brick and mortar stores on November 27th and ship in time for customers to play VR games during the holidays.
However, the game "Land's End" which was developed for Gear VR and is priced at $7.99 is no longer compatible with the Galaxy Note 4 which released last year. RoadtoVR reporting on this states that people who had purchased the game and were using it on their Galaxy Note 4 along with Gear VR Innovator Edition headset have now found it removed. Samsung also indicated in a statement that the game was no longer compatible with the Note 4 and those who had purchased it would receive a refund. However, it is not clear why the title was removed as users stated that it was working well there were no glitches.
