Evolve release date for PC, PS4, Xbox One: All DLC Maps will be free, studio promises
Turtle Rock Studios' Creative Director Phil Robb has confirmed that all Evolve DLC Maps will be available to all for free. The upcoming cooperative shooter video game pitches four player-controlled hunters against one monster controlled by a fifth player.
"First thing we [Evolve's creative leads] said was we can't break the community up, so all of our maps will be free. We never want anyone to get booted off of a server because they haven't bought something," Robb said.
He also hinted on new additions planned for the post-DLC support that include new monsters, hunters and maps. Even for those who have not previously purchased monster or hunter DLC, they will still be able to play with these new monsters and new hunters.
"We'll have characters and monsters, and even if you don't buy them, if your buddy wants to buy the DLC, that's cool, and your game will be enhanced through his purchase," Robb said.
"So, you won't be able to play as those characters, but you will certainly be able to play with those characters," he added
Those who have pre-ordered the game will be the first ones to receive the DLC free of charge.
The game is masterfully crafted by the same creators of the hit franchise Left 4 Dead, while ensuring that the balance of a competitive and fun cooperative environment is maintained.
Evolve is scheduled to hit the store shelves on Feb. 10, 2015 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It was originally slated for Oct. 21 worldwide release date.
