Michael David, the Broadway producer of "Jersey Boys", is bringing the reality show Duck Dynasty to the musical stage.

Duck Dynasty the musical will feature the Robertson family and the rise of their family owned duck hunting business.

It will also draw inspiration from the book "The Duck Commander Family: How Faith, Family, and Ducks Built a Dynasty" by Duck Commander CEO Willie Robertson.

Robertson expressed excitement at the reveal and indicated that they are involved in the production in some way.

"It isn't often that you are approached with the idea to have your life story transformed into a musical. But when opportunity knocks, you answer the door - and sometimes that door leads to Las Vegas," he said, in a statement carried by the Review Journal.

David indicated that the production will not be a spoof of the existing show and cautioned people that there is a lot of creative potential in the source material.

"I think we were much more intrigued with sort of examining who these people were. Everybody's more complicated than you think they are at a distance. It isn't cynical, it isn't cheesy, and it isn't catering to what we think everyone will like," he said, in the interview  in the Review Journal.

David's grand vision for the show is something that will infuse the charm and fun from the television series with an insightful and moving story arc.

He added that despite the controversy surrounding the family, there is a real story to be told that people might find fascinating.

The Duck Dynasty musical will begin performances on April 20 this year. General tickets will become available on Feb. 17, while the more dedicated Duck Dynasty fans who have registered to the club can avail of presales at an earlier date.
