'Doctor Who' season 9 spoiler: next season to have a Doctor-only episode

"Doctor Who" is made interesting by the many villains that the Doctor faces. But despite the Daleks and the Cybermen, and the Master, the Doctor still remains the most popular poster boy of the show. And those wishing to see solely him on screen might get their wish come season nine.
The Doctor is, inarguably, very eccentric. There are moments when he talks to himself, although some Whovians love that. And those who do will surely love the recent news broken by The Daily Star earlier this week. The online news publication reported that the Time Lord will be seen in an episode that's entirely his own.
Executive Producer, Brian Minchin, said of the episode, "'Doctor Who' has always been about taking risks. It's never sat down and done a normal episode. It's always done something extraordinary. Our audience likes to be challenged."
"Doctor Who"-dedicated website, Blogtor Who, said this "one-hander" episode will be the penultimate episode of the new season. The information was deduced from the official "Doctor Who" Instagram account where only the name of Peter Capaldi, the current Doctor, was seen in a read-through.
But surprises for season nine do not end there. There will also be one episode that's going to be reminiscent of the 2008 sci-fi film, "Cloverfield." In the said episode, viewers will see "found footages" apparently taken by followers of the Doctor as he fights off one of the show's monsters. This is going to be the ninth episode of season nine.
More on the "found footage"-style episode, Minchin said, "We're considering not even having opening titles and just running the footage."
Season nine indeed has a lot of fun stuff for fans under its sleeves. They are bringing back fan favorite, Rigsy and also a new character portrayed by Maisie Williams.
"Doctor Who" returns for season nine on BBC this Sept. 19.
