'Destiny: House of Wolves' DLC update: developers want to improve loot system; 'Belly of the Beast' strike in new leaked image

A leaked screenshot of the upcoming Destiny DLC 'House of Wolves' has generated plenty of excitement amongst fans who have been anxiously waiting for the update since last year. As can be seen in this articleat Game Rant, the images contain information regarding a new strike titled "Belly of the Beast" that will take players to the Ocean of Storms to locate a Fallen Ketch.

This new information is particularly interesting due to a discovery certain players made whilst exploring the Destiny game world late last year. A previously unknown area that is now called Traitor's Ketch was discovered by astute players after utilizing a little known glitch, and while the area does not provide any gameplay content of any kind, that is expected to change once 'House of Wolves' is released.

Traitor's Ketch was eventually revealed to be a Fallen vehicle situated somewhere in the Ocean of Storms on the Moon. That information matches up with the recent leaked images, signifying that the new strike will most likely take place in this unexplored region. Players are now speculating on the nature of the strike itself along with the mechanics of the strike's final boss battle.

In other 'House of Wolves' news, Destiny designer Luke Smith chimed in on how the new DLC pack will improve the game's loot and reward system. In a post on the NeoGaf forums, Smith indicated that the Destiny team is aware of their mistakes in the previous DLC wherein vendor gear invalidated the efforts of Raiders, and the resetting of talents following an Exotic upgrade. He assured fans that the same mistakes will not be repeated in the future.

In addition to rectifying their past mistakes, Smith also indicated that the team's philosophy going forward will be to lessen the player's grind such that players will be able to access the most exciting parts of their arsenal in a more timely manner. This may involve increased drop rates and perk variability, while the shard economy is also being looked at for improvement in future content expansions.

'House of Wolves' is expected to release sometime in May, but an exact release date has yet to be revealed.
