Luxury watchmaker Breitling has unveiled its new luxury smartwatch – the Exospace B55. The Breitling Exospace B55 was tailor-made for pilots and other professionals in similar fields. The smartwatch was developed, assembled and tested entirely in Switzerland.

"The Exospace B55 is asserting itself as a major technological breakthrough, entirely in line with the Breitling inventions that have made their mark on the history of watchmaking," according to the official site.

Breitling has unveiled a traditional instrument for professionals that leverage the connectivity of the smartphone to improve the watch's usability and efficiency. However, the Breitling Exospace B55 isn't simply like the other smartwatches released by Apple and Samsung. It features a classic analog display with SuperQuartz to keep time. There are also two LCD screens that display chronograph and tachymeter information. Aside from that, the screens can also display smartphone notifications like emails, calls and reminders. The luxury smartwatch also comes with display backlighting.

The watch face is protected by sapphire crystal. Both the watch face and its back are glare proofed. The watch is water-resistant up to 100 meters.

The Exospace B55 comes with a light but sturdy black titanium case that measures 46 mm in diameter and 15.25 mm in thickness. It weighs 80 grams. The watch features a rotating bezel with tabs that serve as reference points for departure times or deadlines. The two-tone rubber TwinPro strap also gives off a sporty feel. The strap is available in three color combinations: blue on black, anthracite on black, and gray on black.

The Breitling Exospace B55 also comes with Bluetooth so that it can be paired with smartphones. It is equipped with a rechargeable battery wherein a single charge is expected to last for about two months. Other functions include a countdown timer, seven daily alarms, a lap timer and a countdown/count up clock.

Given that the Breitling Exospace B55 is a premium watch, its $8,900 price tag isn't all that surprising.
