Apple news: more emoji characters coming with iOS 9.1

(Apple)iPad and iPhone running iOS 9

Apple is set to release the iOS 9 on Sept. 16 and part of its preparations is its first public beta. As soon as the first iOS 9.1 beta was seeded to developers, a number of its features were reported by websites and they pointed out that new fun and exciting emojis — ranging from tacos to cheese wedges — would arrive when the update to Apple's mobile operating system finally lands.

Reporting on the availability of the public beta, the website, MacRumors, states that it was released to those who had registered for the beta testing program with Apple. The beta was made available to them a day after it was released to developers. This followed Apple's announcement at its event last Sept. 9 that it will be launching the iOS 9 on Sept. 16.

As for the features of the iOS 9.1, these will include support for accessories also compatible with the iPad Pro, specifically the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil, which were also announced when the big tablet with a 12.9-inch display was unveiled. Also, since this is the first time that Apple has created a stylus for any device, the company devoted a significant section of its media event last Sept. 9 to describe its benefits and features.

Coming to the rest of the features of iOS 9.1, they include support for Unicode 8 and 41 new emoji characters. Among the new emojis are a face with a zipped mouth, nerd face, sick face with a thermometer, turkey, burrito, mosque and Menorah. Also, Apple Insider reports that many of iOS 9's new features is due to the M9 coprocessor which is present on the new A9 chipset. The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus comes equipped with this new chipset and it allows Siri to always listen for voice commands from the user.
