When it comes to high-end smartphones, the iPhone 6s Plus is deemed by many as one of the best, but there are smaller devices with the same metal unibody design which can take it on, and the HTC One M9 is one of them. Here's how these two devices fare in a comparison.

Design

With its metal unibody and curved edges, the iPhone 6s Plus is one of the best designed phablets in the marketplace. It has an improved Touch ID fingerprint scanner included in its home button. As for its size, it is bigger than its competitor and comes in four colors: gray, silver, gold and rose gold.

Coming to the One M9, it, too, has a metal body but it is shinier as it has been hand-polished. However, there is no fingerprint scanner on HTC's device, which leaves it at a disadvantage. As for the colors, there is a silver/gold combination, amber gold, gold/pink combination and gray options. 

Display

The iPhone 6s Plus comes with 3D Touch technology and hardware that can sense the amount of pressure being applied to the screen. It has an IPS LCD screen measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and density of 401 pixels per inch.

The smaller One M9, on the other hand, has a super LCD3 screen measuring 5.0 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and density of 441 pixels per inch. 

Specs

There is the latest Snapdragon 810 chipset in the One M9 coupled with an octa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2 GHz along with an Adreno 430 GPU.

Compared to this, the iPhone 6s Plus is faster and it has a Apple A9 chipset, coupled with a CPU with two cores clocked at 1.84 GHz along with a PowerVR GT7600 GPU. 

Memory

With Apple's devices having no memory slot, the iPhone 6s Plus also follows the same formula. The One M9 is ahead with a slot that allows for the addition of up to 128 GB of external storage. Comparing their RAM, again the One M9 is ahead with 3 GB while the iPhone 6s Plus has 2 GB. 

Price

The HTC One M9 costs $199 with a two year contract, while the iPhone 6s Plus has a price tag of $299 with a similar contract.
