Creative Assembly and Sega's Alien: Isolation release date is officially here for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.

"Aboard a decommissioned station, amongst a dwindling, frightened population, underpowered and underprepared, will she find the answers she's looking for?" the Alien: Isolation website teased.

The game was inspired by Ridley Scott's original horror film, Alien.

Alien: Isolation is set in 2137 and follows the journey of Amanda, who is investigating the mysterious disappearance of her mother Ellen Ripley.

Alien: Isolation anchors its gameplay with fear, dread and mortal danger as Amanda enters battles for survival.

Those who have written a review on Alien: Isolation have mixed reactions towards the game.

Kevin VanOrd of GameSpot pointed out that Alien: Isolation's cat-and-mouse encounters can be genuinely intense, and says the fusion of retro and futuristic atmosphere is just perfect.

However, he also noticed some illogical and inconsistent mechanics, uninspired filler and lengthy gameplay that led him this conclusion:

"Alien: Isolation provides us a glimpse into a future that holds the Alien game you've always wanted. It is not, however, the vessel that carries you there," VanOrd says.

CVG's Dave Meikleham thinks the horror factor is authentic however, and is all praises for the game.

"Before there were dozens of Aliens games... Now, there's precisely one Alien game," Meikleham wrote.

"A masterfully produced horror that overcomes length issues through supreme scares," he added.

Dan Whitehead of Eurogamer gives Alien: Isolation a score of 8 out of the possible perfect score of 10.

"A shorter, sharper campaign would condense the high points more potently, and some better characterisation would make the plot twists hit harder. But if you're looking for a game that really sinks its teeth into what makes this iconic movie monster endure, look no further," Whitehead writes.
