2016 Holden Captiva news: Popular Australian SUV receives modern new look and with state-of-the-art technology

The popular Captiva SUV has been refreshed for the 2016 model year. Along with a redesigned look, the family friendly SUV was also equipped with state-of-the-art connectivity. The 2016 Holden Captiva is stylish and attractive vehicle that suits the many needs of a busy family.

"Captiva is a practical and flexible SUV, designed for families on the go that need the space but also want to look good and enjoy their road trips," said Peter Keley, Holden's Executive Director.

The 2016 Holden Captiva SUV has a revised front fascia. The SUV features a new aggressive front grille and bumper, redesigned headlights and new LED daytime running lamps. The new Captiva SUV looks sleek and modern; it also has a strong presence on the road.

The SUV will be offered in three trim levels – LS, LT and LTZ. The top-tier LTZ trim comes with 19-inch wheels.

Inside the Captiva SUV, the cabin features a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as voice recognition and navigation. The vehicle also comes standard with a rear view camera.

The 2016 Holden Captiva is available in five-seat or seven-seat configurations. Its safety features include side blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert, park assist and ISOFIX child seat compatibility.

The 2016 Holden Captiva is still powered by the same powertrain options as its predecessor. The first option is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 165 horsepower and 169 lb-ft of torque. It can also be powered by a more capable 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine that produces 181 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The engine can be paired with either a manual or automatic transmission.

The 2016 Holden Captiva SUV will replace the outgoing Captiva 5 and the Captiva 7. It is expected to go on sale in Australia and New Zealand by early 2016. Pricing information has not yet been revealed but the SUV may be priced at around AUD 29,990 which is about $22,000.
