ZTE Axon Elite, flagship device breaks new ground with three biometric security features
When it comes to powerful yet affordable smartphones, it is clear that Chinese smartphone manufacturers are leading the pack. However, the issue with these amazing Chinese-made devices is that they are difficult to come by, often plagued by international distribution issues.
ZTE seems to want to make this issue a thing of the past, as it is now planning an international release for its new flagship device.
ZTE already unveiled their Axon Pro device in the U.S. market earlier this year. The impressive device, with a 2K display and powerful hardware, was well-received.
Now, the company has released the newest iteration of the Axon smartphone, the Axon Elite, during the IFA Berlin tech show. The Axon Elite shares some similarities with the Axon Pro; however, there are a few notable additions.
The Axon Elite features a premium aluminum build with a metallic finish. At the back of the device, there are faux leather patches located on top and at the bottom. There are also two front-facing speakers.
The flagship device also features a 5.5-inch Full HD LCD display with a 1080 x 1920 screen resolution and 401 ppi pixel density. It is protected by a 2.5D scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass panel. ZTE decided to nix the Quad HD display for the new smartphone, however, images are still very bright and colorful.
The device is powered by an octa-core 2.0 GHz 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, Adreno 430 GPU and 3 GB of RAM. Internal memory capacity is at 32 GB, with a microSD slot available for expanded memory.
The ZTE Axon Elite also carries a very impressive camera. The rear camera has a dual-camera lens set-up, with 13 MP for photos and 2 MP for depth effects. When users take photos, they will have the option to adjust the depth of the images that they have captured. The front-facing camera, on the other hand, has an 8 MP wide-angle lens.
The ZTE flagship also carries a 3,000 mAh battery with quick charge capabilities. The device also has 4G LTE capability and is preloaded with the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS with ZTE's MiFavor 3.2 UI on top.
What makes the Axon Elite special and unique, however, are the three biometric security measures available.
Users will be able to unlock their phone using the eye scanner, fingerprint scanner or through voice commands.
The Axon Elite is actually the first smartphone in the market to feature three different biometric features.
The Axon Elite will be launched in European markets starting Sept. 24 and will continue to reach other European and Asian markets later on. The device will carry a $470 price tag.
