The psychological thriller "Wayward Pines" season 1 left off with a hanging plot: Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon) woke up to find out he had been unconscious for three years and a rebellion is on the rise in the titular town. One character is also coming, Fox revealed in a statement.

The said newcomer is Dr. Theo Yedlin to be played by Jason Patric who is known for his roles in "The Lost Boys" and "Sleepers."Dr. Yedlin, a surgeon, will have a big role to play for the residents of Wayward Pines. Patric had been doing films as an actor, and his casting in "Wayward Pines" marks his debut as a series regular.

Executive producer M. Night Shyamalan said of Patric (via Deadline), "Jason is an incredibly grounded and believable actor. I'm so excited for audiences to see what he brings to the world of 'Wayward Pines.'"

In terms of what to expect in season 2, Fox President of Entertainment David Madden said that it is going to "take the suspense, the vision of the future and the haunting character drama to whole new levels."

In a synopsis, it is revealed that the town will be covered in mysteries that Ethan will start thinking he is insane. On the other hand, his wife, Theresa Burke (Shannyn Sossamon), is not resting with a mere call from Ethan's boss. She and their teenage son, Ben (Charlie Tahan), will be on their way to search for the head of their family.

Meanwhile, Fox is presently looking for actors to play several roles, including Theo's wife. There are no words yet from the network which cast members from season 1 will join the upcoming season.

Showrunner Chad Hodge has quit the show, Variety previously confirmed. Shyamalan and Crouch will serve as executive producers, along with Donald De Line, Ashwin Rajan and Mark Friedman.

The second season of 'Wayward Pines' will premiere in the summer.
