Tim Tebow news: petitions for Denver Broncos pass 10K mark

(REUTERS/RAY STUBBLEBINE)New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow speaks at a news conference introducing him as a Jets at the team's training in Florham Park, New Jersey March 26, 2012. Tebow was traded to the Jets from the Denver Broncos last week.

Last time it was checked, the signature campaign for Tim Tebow to be brought back to the Denver Broncos' fold produced about 2,800 signatures. With the days passing by, the number of entries also rises, calling for the return of "TebowTime" in Denver.

Right now, the numbers have swelled to upwards of 10,100 signatures, and the effort was all started by a Colorado native named Will Garner. The petition was for Gary Kubiak, where giving Tebow a second chance in Denver could help out in the quarterback shortage the team has been dealing with.

The Broncos lost Peyton Manning to retirement and then Brock Osweiler to the Houston Texans. Mark Sanchez was acquired and then Paxton Lynch via the NFL draft. Despite the presence of Sanchez and Lynch, it is obvious that Broncos fans are not sold on the idea that the two would be enough for the team to repeat its performance last season.

Despite a so-so stint the last time around, fans believe that Tebow is the guy the Broncos should go after, despite being out of the NFL scene.

The call is obvious. There was a time when "TebowTime" had its moment of glory. Though Tebow needed a lot of work on his pass completion rate, fans believe that such is short work to deal with rather than a developmental program circled on Lynch.

Sanchez is not a bad quarterback, though he is not seen as someone among the ranks of reliable quarterbacks other teams have at the moment. Together with Tebow, both could help each other out and return favorable results with the Broncos if given the chance.

If the Broncos eventually consider Tebow, such is seen as a big gamble. But with most quarterbacks seemingly set on their respective teams, the Broncos may want to consider trying out an old face and silence the fans once and for all.
