'The Wall' release date, news: John Cena, Aaron Taylor-Johnson fight smart for their lives against a sniper
Amazon Studios, in partnership with Roadside Attractions, has released a teaser trailer for the upcoming 2017 film "The Wall." The movie talks about two American soldiers who are in a lethal deadlock with an Iraqi sniper who could end their lives by just pulling the trigger.
In the cinematic clip, John Cena blows his cover by going near a vehicle where he spots no movement from a person inside it. Little do they know that a sniper is on to them, and while Aaron Taylor-Johnson tries to save him, he is made to hide behind a fragile wall. He requests for extraction, but then notices that the guy on the other line has an accent, and is the sniper who has been toying with them all this time.
The film provides a tricky premise, as Cena is wide open, while Taylor-Johnson is protected only by a crumbling wall. If they are to survive the ordeal, they have to carefully calculate their actions in spotting and evading the sniper.
The film endeavors to be authentic, so much that it sought help from people close to war genres. Former US army ranger and direct-action sniper Nicholas Irving has been invited as an advisor to the said project, IMDb has learned. His actual combat experience in Iraq and Afghanistan is something that could breathe life to the film.
Laith Nakli is cast for the role of Juba, the sniper in the film, which is actually the pseudonym of a true Iraqi sniper who was notorious for allegedly killing a number of American soldiers, reports reveal. If anything, this adds to the drama of the film, as people who know the name could cycle in their minds the said character as they watch the movie.
Doug Liman is sitting on the director's chair for the film. He is well-known for his work with the "Bourne" series, "Edge of Tomorrow," and "Mr. and Mrs. Smith." He is joined by Dwain Worrell as the writer for the said film.
"The Wall" is set to be released in cinemas in March 10, 2017.
