Episode 14 proved to be a sad one as viewers bid adieu to a cancer-struck Sheriff Forbes while Stephan and Caroline finally experienced their first kiss. As episode 15 airs soon on CW, watchers of the show will see characters deal with the aftermath of Caroline's mother's death.

Episode 15 named "Let Her Go" will depict the good Sheriff's funeral as Damon orates the eulogy for Caroline's mother. Although Elena mourns with her best friend, Caroline, she gets concerned when she notices a strange change in her behavior, reports TV Guide. Moreover, the promotional video released by CW shows a worried Elena saying, "I don't think she's handling this as well as she thinks she is". It seems the death of her mother finally gets to Caroline. The synopsis also teases that Kai asks Jo for help. Fans might recall that Kai has absorbed some unexpected qualities of Luke as a result of the merge, apart from the twin's magical powers. Which means, audiences will see Kai's changing personality in this episode as well. Alaric is still highly suspicious of Kai.

Matt and Tyler start thinking about making a drastic life change while Bonnie encounters an unfamiliar situation. She went to Nova Scotia in order procure her hands on some magic and get out of 1994. What unfamiliar situation could she come across? Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the episode will be Damon dealing with the painful memories of his mother when he offers some advice to Caroline on how to deal with her mother's death, according to Celebdirty Laundry.

Looks like the aftereffects of Liz's death will be felt by every "Vampire Diaries" cast member. Expect to see some flashbacks of Caroline's childhood memories as she copes with the loss of her mother.

Episode 20 of "The Vampire Diaries" is slated to air on CW on Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. EST.
