'The Real Housewives of Atlanta' season 8 news: Cast has no problem dispensing the drama, even without NeNe Leakes
In July 2015, Bravo announced that "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" was renewed for season eight. However, it was also revealed that two stars were leaving the show, NeNe Leakes and Claudia Jordan.
Leakes was the last original member of the show, and is easily the most recognizable figure outside the show. "This was definitely a hard decision for me. But my contract is up and I just think this is the right time," Leakes revealed. Leakes, who has been the center of many arguments, is excited to move on and pursue other projects.
Andy Cohen, "Real Housewives'" executive producer, also revealed via Twitter that Leakes is welcome to come back anytime. "I'll probably pop up and play with those girls every now and then," Leakes teased.
Despite the absence of Leakes, it seems that the current cast members have no trouble stirring up trouble on their own.
It was revealed that the cast and crew began filming for the show last August. Production crews were spotted at a launch party for Cynthia Bailey's eyewear collection.
Fights were already rampant even on their first filming day. Porsha Williams and Marlo Hampton were seen fighting with Bailey's husband, Peter. Sheree Whitfield was also said to be in an altercation with Kenya Moore.
Just recently, People also revealed that Williams and Bailey got into a heated altercation while on a boat. According to TMZ, the argument happened while they were filming for the show. The fight did not last long as producers were able to step in right away. Bravo refused to comment on the event, but are said to be reviewing the footage of the fight.
The source also stated that both Williams and Bailey are regretful of their actions and just want proceed with filming for the show.
Bravo has yet to announce season eight's premiere. However, since the past four seasons of the show have premiered in November, the upcoming season may follow suit.
"The Real Housewives of Atlanta" season eight will air every Sunday, 8/7 c, on Bravo.
