Klaus (Joseph Morgan) might return to power, scarier and more brutal than ever, in the upcoming season of "The Originals."

Last installment, the hybrid was forced to face the ramifications of centuries-worth of sins. Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) set up a trial for him where every evil thing that he has done was discussed. In the end, Klaus was sentenced to an eternity of agony. A dagger was put in his heart, and although he lay on his casket seemingly asleep, inside, he was someone in a seething mass of pain.

Inquisitr posits that the experience will bring back the old Klaus, the one who goes around killing people without an ounce of regret. According to the website, executive Michael Narducci hinted about Klaus' road to revenge in one of his May interviews.

Since Cami (Leah Pipes) is gone, there is no one to remind Klaus to take it easy. Marcel has stepped on his pride and he definitely wants to make him pay. Even if Marcel has turned into a very powerful vampire, Klaus is not just any bloodsucker. He is one of the Originals and as such, he had acquired skills from living for several eras. He may be without his sire lines, but his determination to get revenge should compensate for his lack of allies.

Meanwhile, Narducci told TV Guide about the possible ways Klaus will return to the world of the living. His siblings Rebekah (Claire Holt), Freya (Riley Voelkel), Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) will most definitely be saved by Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin). Klaus, meanwhile, may get help from someone else.

The EP teased that a third party may get involved in that scenario.

"I don't know you should assume that the Mikaelsons are the ones that get Klaus out. Maybe there's some other person that's going to get Klaus out. Maybe Klaus will get himself out. Maybe someone is going to decide that there's a big problem in the world and Klaus Mikaelson is the only person that can help us deal with it," he told TV Guide.

"The Originals" season 4 is expected to return midseason next year.
