'The Librarians' season 3 news, spoilers: Noah Wyle returns; season 3 will be scarier

(The Librarians / Facebook)Noah Wyle will reprise his role as Flynn Carsen on the next season of "The Librarians."

Fans of the action-adventure drama series "The Librarians" will be able to watch one of the show's executive producers Noah Wyle again on screen, as he is set to reprise his role as Flynn Carsen.

The upcoming season 3 of the series will show the return of Flynn, who is the Librarian responsible for uniting a new team that Eve manages. Wyle just signed the deal with network TNT to reprise his role on seven of the 10 episodes of the season. Aside from being an actor and an exective producer of the show, he will also be writing one and directing two episodes on the upcoming season.

According to Deadline, executive producer Dean Devlin described his working experience with Wyle as one of his most successful creative partnerships. "To have this season him writing, directing and acting in seven episodes, it feels like we have come all the way home together, it's great to have him so engaged," said Devlin.

Devlin also spilled some spoilers about the next season. He said that fans can expect a scarier season "with a little bit higher stakes to put more pressure on the characters and how they handle things."

Since Wyle will be doing a lot of roles — both on and off screen — on the show, Wyle shared about the progress of his career. It was 18 months ago when he decided to branch out to producing, directing, and writing, and ever since, he has given those three new roles "more aggression and confidence." He admitted that he did not plan for any of it to happen; everything just fit in.

As for the third season of "The Librarians," Wyle expressed his utmost excitement — not just in acting — but in doing other aspects of the production as well.

"The Librarians" season 3 is expected to premiere late this year.
