'The Incredibles 2' plot: cast and crew details confirmed by Brad Bird
It has been more than a decade since Disney in partnership with Pixar released their animated superhero hit, "The Incredibles," and since its premiere in 2004, fans have been waiting for a sequel. For eleven long years news surrounding its development have been scarce however fortunately for steadfast followers, Disney has finally announced an official release date for the movie less than two months ago.
"We're proud to present the official release dates for our upcoming slate of films through 2019!" Read their update on twitter coupled with announcements surrounding The Incredibles 2, Finding Dory, Toy Story 4, amongst others.
Even before the confirmation, Brad Bird, the director of the original movie and now, the sequel, have announced that the team behind the production is almost done with the script and so far they are pleased with the results saying:
"I have the story arc. I'm probably three-quarters through the script, first pass through the script, but we're already boarding parts of it. I've got a lot of people that worked on the first one working on it, so we're all having a good time with it."
Elsewhere, Bird also hinted that the first movie would be very much tied into the upcoming sequel mainly because a few of his ideas that didn't make the cut during the original production has been included this time around.
"So there were a pile of ideas left over from 'The Incredibles,' but it's not a big thing. There were little scenes and things that I was interested in. I wanted to come up with sort of an over-arching idea that connected to the first film that went somewhere different," said Bird.
Bird has also since confirmed that Michael Giacchino would be returning to the franchise to score "The Incredibles 2."
"The Incredibles 2" is scheduled to hit the big screen on June 21, 2019.
