'The Elder Scrolls 6' release date: Game pushed back to 2019 as Bethesda focuses on two other projects?
Despite having already confirmed plans for "The Elder Scrolls 6," Bethesda has remained mum on the development and release of the game. It was initially believed to arrive sometime in 2018. However, recent reports and the revelation of Bethesda's other projects have sparked rumors that the title may be pushed all the way to 2019.
Bethesda vice president Pete Hines previously assured fans that "The Elder Scrolls 6" is definitely a part of the company's future plans. However, he was also quick to point out that the game is not an immediate priority at this time.
"It's coming, just not as soon as you probably hoped," he said. "We aren't working on 'TES6' at the moment." Regardless, fans have been glued to the screen just waiting for updates on the upcoming title. Many were even disappointed when the game failed to show up at Gamescom earlier this year.
And now, according to reports, it would seem that the wait just got longer. Bethesda has revealed that it has two other projects in the works. What's even more disheartening is that the company plans to focus all of its efforts on these two upcoming games before turning its head to "The Elder Scrolls 6." The titles of the two projects have not been revealed as of yet, so it is unclear if they are sequels or new games entirely.
Another rumor that has apparently been disproven has to do with "The Elder Scrolls 6" adopting a virtual reality (VR) format. The gaming industry is slowly, but surely, evolving and VR may soon be a staple. However, reports state that Bethesda does not seem all too keen on VR support for "The Elder Scrolls 6."
Bethesda seems to be in hot water with its fan base lately, especially with the issues surrounding "Fallout 4" and its PS4 mods. Hopefully, things will look up for the company soon. In the meantime, fans can look forward to the release of "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" special edition on Oct. 28.
