'Tekken 7' news: Game to be followed by a paid DLC; Jun Kazama not a playable character

(Facebook/Tekken)"Tekken 7" will be followed by a paid DLC.

"Tekken 7" is not expected to arrive in the market earlier than the first quarter of 2017, but, this early, fans can already expect who among their favorite characters will be part of the upcoming game.

According to reports, "Tekken 7" is taking part in the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2016, which is happening from Sept. 15 to 18, and will introduce some of its playable characters in the said event. Reportedly, Steve Fox, Asuka, Kazuya, Heihachi, Hwoarang, Yoshimitsu, King, Xiaoyu, Marshall Law, and Paul Phoenix are some of the characters that gamers can control in the upcoming game.

Fans of Jun Kazama may be up for some disappointment, though, at it has been learned that the character will not be a playable one on "Tekken 7."

Apart from the release of "Tekken 7," it is also reported that the game will be followed by the release of a downloadable content (DLC) that, unfortunately, will not come for free, according to the game's producer, Katsuhiro Harada.

"Personally, I've always thought that fighting games were best made as a package, you release it, the players enjoy it for however long they want... but recently with the digital purchases and such a lot of people, the players especially, are saying that they don't mind paying, that they still want to see some new content after release. So since the voices are becoming (more and more) larger, I guess you could say, it is something that we want to think about seriously and perhaps change our point of view," Harada said in an interview with Game Reactor.

With the partnership of Sony and Bandai, there are now rumors circulating that "Tekken 7" may be exclusive to Sony's VR device. Should this be the case, gamers who already have the Oculus and the HTC Vive may be disappointed, too. However, this is just a speculation for now and may not be the case after all.

"Tekken 7" is slated for a commercial release in early 2017 and will be available for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
