Sure chill refrigerator can keep vaccines cool for up to 10 days without power

Sure Chill has come up with an ingenious refrigerator with cutting edge technology, using Laws of Fluid Thermodynamics so that things like vaccines can keep cool for up to 10 days - even without being plugged in.

Refrigeration systems are important to people's lives. However, at times they are insufficient.

During a hot Manhattan summer, for instance, refrigerators that chill soda and medicines for treatment always need to have power. Moreover, conventional coolers are constantly battling with nature.

The sun heats the world up, and a large amount of energy is used to cool things down . That's why there ought to be a cooling solution that is sustainable enough - one that can keep on working.

An amazing idea popped up from water. Water is abundant, yet incredible. It has the superb property of becoming so heavy at 4°C (39.2°F) that it sinks. It rises at any temperature above that. That concept inspired a new kind of refrigeration system.

The Sure Chill refrigerator contains block of ice on top so that when there is a loss of power supply, it still keeps the contents cold. When power supply cut off, the refrigerator warms up, warm water goes up to the reservoir's top where it will be cooled down by ice there and then sent back to the tank's bottom.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is already using Sure Chill refrigerators in 40 countries. In 2013, Sure Chill was commissioned by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to come up with a unit which would keep things cool for two weeks or more.

Bill Thies, researcher of Microsoft has been using technology to aid doctors in Bangalore for monitoring tuberculosis treatment. Refrigerator units could basically give better cooling system and make a difference in helping doctors treat the sick.
