'Supernatural' season 12 spoilers: Castiel to regain his powers, go on a mission

(Facebook/Supernatural)Castiel will become a badass angel once more in "Supernatural" season 12.

Despite having been around for more than a decade already, "Supernatural" is bound to offer more excitement to its avid viewers when the series returns for its season 12. When it comes back for its upcoming season, "Supernatural" will not only feature Mary (Samantha Smith) returning from the dead but will also feature Castiel (Misha Collins) pulling back his old self together.

To the uninitiated, Castiel lost his essence and abilities as an angel as he became human who allied with Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester and served as a vessel of Lucifer. However, when "Supernatural" season 12 returns, fans of the series will see Misha getting restored to his former glory as he regains all his powers as an angel, just like how he was in the past.

Collins teased in an interview that his character will be angry at the onset of "Supernatural" season 12 and will be bent on fixing things. With this, fans of the show can expect to see Castiel being badass again after having been portrayed as a broken human for a long time in the story.

"At the moment he is not broken, I don't know where things are going to go, I don't think people on our show stay unbroken for long, but at the moment he is angry he is kind of badass, he is powerful, and he is on a mission," Collins told Blastr in reference to his "Supernatural" character during last month's San Diego Comic-Con.

Apart from the return of Castiel's powers, another return that "Supernatural" fans can expect is that of Mary, whose participation in the upcoming season was already hinted at in the season finale episode of the series' previous season, thanks to Amara (Emily Swallow) who resurrected her.

Despite getting resurrected from the dead, though, the character will not immediately live the kind of life that she had the first time she was alive as she won't understand things and won't even recognize her son Dean, who was still very young when she died.

"I don't think she knows where she is, what's happening, why am I here? I was on fire a minute ago, what is going on?" And in much the same way that I don't (think) Dean is positive she is who she looks like she is, she may not: A) know who he is at all or B)] if he really is who he says he is. I think as a hunter your first instinct is doubt, always," Smith told Enstarz at the San Diego Comic-Con.

How will Castiel influence the events in "Supernatural" season 12 now that his powers are back? Will Mary, Sam, and Dean have a blissful family reunion? Find out when "Supernatural" season 12 airs over The CW beginning Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. ET.
