'Supernatural' season 12 spoilers, news: Castiel and Crowley team up to bring down a common enemy
Lucifer (now played by rock star Rick Springfield) should be on the lookout for the combined forces of Castiel (Misha Collins) and Crowley (Mark Sheppard) in the upcoming season of "Supernatural."
Recent spoilers for the hit CW series indicate that the angel and the devil will be teaming up to take down a common enemy – God's favorite son, Lucifer. Collins told Entertainment Weekly that the two would agree to help one another to take revenge on the fallen angel. As fans of the show are aware, Cas decided to be Lucifer's meat suit last season, believing that the latter was the only one who could defeat Amara (Emily Swallow). In the end, it was Dean (Jensen Ackles) who convinced the Darkness to make peace with God, while Lucifer fled.
After getting betrayed by Lucifer, Cas now wants revenge. He will find an ally in Crowley, who similarly wants to take down this adversary for a very personal purpose. Crowley wants to take back his throne as the king of hell. Lucifer's presence has been making things difficult for him with the devils and for once, he wants to ends his misery. Collins also promised that the fans would get to see "a 70s sitcom/'80s buddy cop comedy" once the two characters join forces. Will their tandem work or will Crowley end up deceiving Cas?
Meanwhile, the showrunners are planning an interesting storyline for the new Lucifer. The aging rock star, Vince Vincente (Springfield), is gearing up for a major comeback in the music industry. A music industry mogul, who is acquainted with Crowley, is interested in him. Russell Lemmons, to be played by Kadeem Hardison (as per spoilers), will not be happy to find that his "friend" has other plans for the singer. Will he be able to handle the competition with the devil?
"Supernatural" returns Thursday, Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
