'Super Smash Bros 4' release update: no news yet on upcoming DLC's characters; three stages instead of two, data mining reveals
There have been a lot of rumours surrounding a possible new downloadable content for "Super Smash Bros. 4." One of those more persistent rumours involved Shovel Knight. So imagine everyone's disappointment when that rumour was finally shot down. Thankfully, fans can still contend themselves with new characters and stages reported to be included in the new update.
Recently, "Shovel Knight" creator Yacht Club Games shared that his character will not be supported in the 3DS and Wii U versions of the brawler title "Super Smash Bros. 4." While fans were massively let down by this news, the doors are not entirely closed. Besides, the news did not necessarily mean there won't be any more DLCs in the future.
The buzz that a new DLC is soon to come came about when hardcore data miners looked into the game's latest patch's files. They eventually uncovered two stages and three characters that are yet to be filled. Though the blank stages and characters no longer came as a shock, they were still very much interesting, leading to more speculations. With Shovel Knight out of the picture now, who else could be added in the game?
Some websites have started speculating on the matter. Master Herald names "Golden Sun's" Isaac and "Star Fox's" Wolf O'Donnell. Gamnesia, on the other hand, says "Splatoon's" Inklings will make a great addition. All these are mere speculations and maybe even wishful thinking at the moment though. So fans should tread lightly before believing any of those right now.
Another rumour that was previously reported is that data miners have found a total of four empty stages, two standard and two omega. New updates seem to say these stages have been bumped to six, still split equally to numbers of three between the two versions. Parent Herald says these empty stages have been coded "Tikibuzz."
While waiting for the DLC (if it indeed comes out), those who are not yet onboard with the game may still purchase it. "Super Smash Bros. 4" may be purchased digitally or physically for the 3DS and Wii U.
