'Star Wars Rebels' season 3 spoilers: Darth Maul faces Darth Vader; Ahsoka still alive
Fans of "Star Wars Rebels" are in for a treat when the 3D CGI animated television series returns for its third season. Spoilers claim that there is going to be an epic battle between the two great villains, Darth Maul and Darth Vader.
Last season, viewers saw Darth Maul's arrival on the planet. During that time, Darth Vader was busy fighting Ahsoka, which ultimately culminated in the collapse of the Sith temple with the female fighter still inside. Sources report that the two Darths will soon meet and test who between them is more powerful.
Series producer and co-creator Dave Filoni confirmed with Game N Guide that there is going to be a big battle between the two, but it would not be the only focus of season 3. According to him, Darth Maul's backstory would also be tackled. He even admitted that they have yet to consider the face-off with Vader.
Meanwhile, Ahsoka's alleged demise has been the topic of discussion for fans. Many believe that she is still alive. After all, her body was not shown when the temple crumpled. Filoni told IGN that they purposely had an open-ended ending for Ahsoka in season 2. Though he hinted that there were still plenty of stories to tell about the character, the producer refused to comment further on whether she was really dead or not.
"While I'm not a huge fan of being tremendously ambiguous as far as what happened — I would say that this is the one case where I think it's alright with Ahsoka to leave things a bit open-ended. You wondered what happened to her before, but you knew she walked away. Now she kind of leaves in a state of conflict. I would just say that there are probably — and I'll give you this as we go back a ways — there are probably more stories to tell with Ahsoka Tano, but I would not believe that that would happen necessarily on Star Wars Rebels," he shared.
"Star Wars Rebels" season 3 is said to return in fall of 2016. It can be viewed on Disney XD.
