Whether or not "Scream Queens" returns for season 3, it has been reported that Lea Michele will no longer be part of the cast. She has exited the show to join a new comedy pilot on ABC.

Until now, the fate of "Scream Queens" is still unknown, as FOX has not made any announcement yet if the horror-comedy anthology is indeed returning for a third season. Whatever happens, though, one thing is for sure: viewers will not be seeing any of Hester, played by Lea Michele, on the show.

The actress, who is also well-known for her character in the hit musical TV series "Glee," is taking on a new project with ABC in their untitled comedy pilot. Penned by Jeremy Bronson, the show is said to focus on the story of Courtney Rose (Brandon Michael Hall), a struggling rapper who cooks up a publicity stunt by running for mayor. When he wins the election, he discovers that he can actually do a great job as mayor and makes great changes in the City Hall.

According to Deadline, Lea Michele was initially offered the role of Valentina Flores, the mayor's Chief of Staff. However, there has not yet been an official announcement from ABC nor the producers on her final role in the upcoming show, as they are still adjusting the character to make it a perfect fit for the actress. Will it also showcase her singing prowess?

ABC's upcoming comedy pilot will be co-produced by Bronson and "Hamilton" star Daveed Diggs, with Jamie Tarses, Scott Stuber, and James Griffiths.

In other news, Lea Michele fans are in for a treat this 2017 because she will also have new music on the way, after three long years. In a tweet posted in January, she announced that her second album titled "Places" is going to be released this year.
