Samsung Z5 smartphone spotted on database with Tizen OS
While all eyes were turned on the release of the flagship Galaxy S7 lineup from Samsung on Feb. 21, news about another smartphone was emerging. However, this particular offering was seen to be running Tizen, which indicated that Samsung has not given up on using this particular homegrown operating system for its mobile devices.
Reporting on the Z5 from Samsung with the Tizen operating system, SamMobile states that it was spotted passing through the Zauba import database. Importantly, the import database tracks phones as they make their way into India for testing purposes and it is clear that the Samsung Z5 could be released soon. As for the model number of the device, it was seen to be SM-Z510 and there are rumors that it could come with a full metal body, which will lend it a premium look. If the rumor about the device having a metal body pans out, it could mean that Samsung wants to differentiate it from previous Tizen smartphones that have had plastic builds.
As for the Z5, it is clear that Samsung is looking to use it to expand its Tizen smartphone offerings. This could be due to the fact that the company has had a good level of success with previous Tizen devices, namely the Z1 and even the Z3. This has led it invest more in this particular operating system and devices. Importantly, Samsung also has a Tizen smartwatch in the form of the Gear S2 and it, too, has done well.
Coming to the Samsung Z5 smartphone, right now, it is not clear when the device will be released but the Korean company has demonstrated that it wants to offer more mid-range offerings to customers. Importantly, it is thought that the Z5 smartphone will be released in Europe first as the company has more luck with Tizen devices in emerging markets. This could indicate that Samsung is planning to first bring the device to countries like Russia.
