Samsung Galaxy View news: 18.4-inch tablet coming via AT&T

There has been a lot of speculation about the Samsung Galaxy View tablet with its 18.4-inch display since it first appeared in rumor mills a few months ago. But after the device was confirmed by Samsung in a teaser video when the Gear S2 was released, the South Korean manufacturer has not provided any other information about it.

However, that could change soon as the Galaxy View was spotted passing through FCC. In the listing picked up by Phone Arena, it is apparent that the tablet has been specifically created to work on the LTE network of AT&T as the model number SM-T677A on the device has "A" tacked on to it.

While this alone is not sufficient to prove that the device is coming to AT&T, an image of the back showed the AT&T logo imprinted on it. However, it is still not clear how Samsung will position the tablet in the market as it has a huge 18.4-inch display.

Meanwhile, other manufactures have also started creating huge tablets and one such is the Alcatel Xess, which has a 17-inch screen. This particular device from Alcatel is marketed as a tablet for the entire family that can be used by multiple users to record recipes or even display films.

Hardware present on the Galaxy View has also been seen in various leaks, and even though these have not been confirmed by Samsung, it appears it will have an Exynos 7 SoC clocked at 1.6 GHz. This will be coupled with 2 GB of RAM. As for storage, there will be 32 GB on board but this could be expanded via a microSD slot.

Another major point of contention about the device is its resolution as specs leaked so far have indicated it will have a 1080p resolution which might not be sufficient. There also appears to be a kickstand on the back of the device, but some have indicated that it could be a case that opens out as a stand.
